Saving Earth is one of the most important social awareness which everyone must be aware of so as to bring positive changes on the planet.
Members of CETAA Chennai in association with Care Earth Trust have started initiatives for a greener Chennai. Care Earth Trust is one of the top leading NGO's in the field of biodiversity and ecological conservation. The first step towards this initiative was unveiled on Sunday, March 11, 2018, by planting tree saplings at Pallikaranai, which is located near Sholinganallur- Medavakkam for a stretch of 1km by the members of CETAA Chennai. Mr. Rakesh Sasibhushan, CMD of Antrix, and also an alumnus of CET, was the chief guest at a small function which was conducted to mark the occasion. Dr S Balaji IFS, Retd. PCCF, Ms. Krishnapriya IFS, CCF and Conservator, Chennai Circle and Mr. Subbaiah, DFO Chennai were also present for the event.
The College of Engineering Trivandrum was established in the year of 1939 as the first engineering college in the then Travancore State. It is one among the oldest and prestigious colleges of South India. "We learnt about ecology and biodiversity during our time in CET, and the passion for conversation of out natural resources was indicated in each of us" said Mr Sunil Varghese, President of CETAA Chennai the occasion.
This initiative in association with Care Earth Trust is seen as a way to make the city of Chennai greener and healthier. This being their first step, they desire to do more initiatives by joining hands with Care Earth Trust and Tamil Nadu Forest Department.
